Parent Portal

This guest post from Werner Rogers

My son is in the seventh grade in a new middle school. Students that go to this school have to be brought in from a wide area because we live in a place that is more of a farming community. So riding the bus is the norm for most students. I went to the beginning of the year open house to meet his teachers and get a feel for the school. The principal was there to welcome us when we first came in. Then we went to the floor that our child’s grade level was on. Seventh grade was on the main floor with sixth grade in the basement level and eighth grade upstairs on the second floor. The school is very big. When I went in to meet his homeroom teacher, she invited us all in to get a good look at what a day in the life of a seventh grader was like. Then she went into explaining her classroom policies like how students were to behave, homework expectations, and what they would be studying for the year. Then she told us that we could keep up with grades, attendance, and discipline on the Parent Portal through the internet. We have signed up with http://get.wildblue.com/internet-provider/california/ a long time ago so that would not be a problem for us. The Parent Portal suggestion made me feel very comfortable. I feel like this is going to be a great year for my son.
