Cold and Flu Season is Here- Tips For Keeping Your Family Healthy...

Winter is coming! We all know what that means, lots and lots of runny noses, colds, and the flu are coming our way and while we can never completely avoid them we can always take a few steps into helping prevent them. Here are a few tips and tricks that I use with my family and when my nieces and nephews come over to visit me.

Cleaning, is a great thing to do as often as possible during winter. Using a household cleaning product like Lysol, thoroughly clean every surface of your household. Be sure to pay special attention to those high traffic areas, door knobs, phones, even remotes, or your child’s toys. Lysol is a trusted brand that I have used ever since I can remember and it's a product I know that I can trust to help fight the spreading of germs.

Dress weather appropriate. If it's cold where you are, be sure to always have a coat on yourself and your family members. Doctor's always say most of your body heat escapes from your feet and head so wear shoes such as boots to keep your feet dry and warm and consider some form of a hat to keep your head warm. Cover the kiddos as much as possible and keep them nice and snug.

Start taking steps to keeping your house as warm as possible. Light a fire, if you have a fireplace. Turn the heat on just a bit. Add an extra blanket to yourself and family members when sleeping. Keep the windows closed.

Have tissues in easy access to your kids and be sure they know to wash their hands as often as possible. The minute you hear a cough or sniffle out of one of your kids immediately start treating them with soup, warm drinks, and maybe some kid friendly medicine.

Teach kids to sneeze and cough into a tissue is also a great tip. I won't have anyone sneezing into the air in my house, everyone knows this is a big no-no. By now the kids are used to it and have learned to have a tissue in hand when they are sick.

Keeping your family healthy during cold and flu season is possible though not always easy. But keeping kleenex, lysol wipes, antibacterial cleaner and plenty of blankets and scarves on hand can go a long way in helping out. Fall and winter are the best times of the year for me and I know that I want to enjoy them and not be sick so for me these tips above are a must have in my house. What are some tips you can share with us to stay healthy?
