It's been raining in California for the past two days, so our April showers are just a bit realy this year. This truly is one of the best times of the year. It's not too cold and the heat is just right, I wish it would stay like this year round...sigh.
It seem's the big guy upstairs has given us a break from this triple digit heat. All week long the weather has been a dream, nice cool eighty degree days with no need for air conditioning, and no need to stay indoors until 7 p.m, just to avoid a heat stroke. I've already seen that the humid heat I just experienced last week that leaves you feeling sticky and just plain gross is set to return next week, but until then I plan to enjoy these last few days of cool and perfect weather. Even if I am just spending my days sitting indoors watching season 3 reruns of Grey's Anatomy. Everyone needs a lazy day, every once in a while. I just plan on letting everyday be my lazy day... well, for as long as I can get away with it. ;-)

Living in the Inland Empire, I've definitely had to adjust to some huge changes from what I was used to when I lived more towards San Diego county. One of the biggest changes, is the heat. I don't think I've even expeirenced triple-digit temperatures before. And to make matters worse, my air conditioning unit is the ugly, huge, old fashioned kind, that makes more noise, then it does cool air. I guess you kind of get used to the noise after it's on for a couple of hours but still, I always remember when a friend comes over and I can tell they are just wondering why it is damn noisy in the house. I really am I have one though, no matter how old and ugly. Especially when I have to quickly step outside to catch the mail or something. The minute I step out, you can't even breathe, and immediately the sweating starts. It's horrible. I have no idea how people who live in places like; Las Vegas, Arizona, or Texas. I swear weather is always my biggest concern when it comes to relocating. Winter also gets pretty cold here too, we can get into the 50's and stay there all day long. My family would sometimes complain about it being too damn cold, but I'd rather freeze my butt off while trying to stay covered in blankets, then sweating to the oldies during the summer time.
Yes it's true, Spring has Sprung but if you live in California you probably haven't noticed because you've been caught in storm after storm of rain, sleet and some pretty heavy winds. So instead of sitting outside in the sun smelling the flowers or looking at all the greenery you are huddled under an umbrella and wearing as many layers as you were able to put on.
I have had to re-schedule several appointments I had earlier in the week, thinking that I could get them done between today and tomorrow. So of course when I got up this morning and reached for the paper only to find that we are under a new storm watch, more rain is on the way in just a few hours, I was not exactly thrilled.
But I just realized something, California really never gets as much rain as it's supposed to, so why not enjoy all this wonderful rain instead of looking at the negatives. I might even grab the umbrella once the rain does come and take a little stroll to Starbucks so I can enjoy it from the inside of my favorite coffee house with a latte in my hand.
It's Saturday morning and it's been raining non stop since late yesterday, temperatures have dropped to below 30 and it's freezing. We live in a small very cozy home that I really love, BUT and this is a pretty big but, the house is over 100 years old and has no heating. Besides a few room heaters there is no other type of heating so waking up on such a chilly day is really hard. It's so cold that instead of rain its been hailing all morning, fine little bits of ice have been falling and I have been laying here listening to the pitter patter of them hitting my bedroom window and door. I actually love the sound of it and have been enjoying it.
Again I spent the week looking for work and going out almost daily to leave new applications, not that I think I will get a job near this town. But it doesn't hurt to try and I am willing to spend the time getting those apps filled out. At least it's been getting me out of the house and made the week go by so fast. But today I am staying home, I just put on the tea kettle and am going to make a yummy hot cocoa with extra marshmallows. I will pair that with some toast and sit here and catch up on following people back. I only got to do half the blogs on Monday and need to finish up. I love all the blogs that I am finding and I will catch myself spending a lot of time reading and getting to know other bloggers. I am having a lot of fun and I think its a great way to socialize without having to leave your house. And on a day like this, leaving is the last thing I want to do, I am going to sit here and enjoy my time off and find more new blogs!
Cheers friends, I hope you all are having a wonderful day.
I come from a beach town where I used to go to the beach all the time. Sometimes I would go just to walk and get some exercise or to hang out with friends, other times I used to go to take my kids to play in the water. On weekends we used to grab the car and drive along the ocean starting in one town all the way almost to the border. All along the way we would stop for coffee and drinks for the kids, we used to marvel at the beauty of the water and all the amazing homes that were nestled all along that long stretch of road. We enjoyed it so much and it was such a part of our lives, it was ingrained in us and in our souls and I think we all thought it would always be there and maybe sometimes we even took it for granted.
Now we only get to the beach a few times a year and it's usually at the end of the day when we've gone out there for an appointment or to visit someone. I can't even remember when the last time the kids actually got to go in the water was. We haven't done our weekend drive in years and I find that my heart missed that beautiful area, that it longs for that stretch of road where we have so many memories.
Decided to join The Weekend Blog Hop and Surfin Saturdays to get this baby going.. I am still adding a few things here and there, have to figure out how to work my FB badge and all that good stuff. But please feel free to follow and leave a comment.
It's a rainy morning here... been raining all night in fact and I am looking forward to getting up and getting the coffee maker going and tasting that first sip of coffee. There is something about that very first sip and that very first cup that make the whole day start off so nicely.
Thank you for stopping by, I will be sure to follow all new followers. Have a great weekend!
