One of the things that I really dislike is car maintenance, I don't know if it's because I am a woman or because I hate shelling out all that money at regular intervals. Seriously though sometimes I feel like my car is holding me up at gun point and I have no other choice but to pay up. It's either that or walk, and since I live in the middle of nowhere that is not an option. At the top of my to do list this month is the 85,000 mile maintenance of my 2007 Volvo V70. I used to take it to the dealership where I bought it, but that was when I had my job, now that I only work part time, I have had to look for an alternative. Fortunately I found this great site, Repairpal.Com.
At Repairpal I was able to easily type in the make, model and year of my vehicle, followed by the service that it needs and Repairpal gave me an estimate for that repair. I also added my zip code so that I could get an estimate from service shops in my area so I will not have to schlep all the way down to my old city to get it done. I was impressed to find that there are in fact 65 service shops that can do this within 5 miles of my house.
My estimate came in at only $60-$112 which is very low compared to what I am used to paying. This really was the most stress free, time saving method I have ever used to look for someone to maintain my vehicle. It also made me feel more confident because with an estimate in hand I already know what I should be charged and will not be taken advantage off.
