Music Makes The World Go Round

So typically whenever I listen to my music I listen to the same songs I've heard hundreds of time already but I still love. I've also been kind of know to really start liking a song months after it's no longer in the top 100 becuase I'm just realizing how great it is. So lately I've been really listening to some of the new music that's creating all the rage these days and I've gotta say, I find myself loving songs I've never really thought I would.

New Hits

The Band Perry, a group I've never really heard of before and a country group nonetheless and yet I still love their hit 'If I Die Young'. Country typically is not my thing, with a very few amount of exceptions but this song I kind of love.

Hot Challe Rae, not gonna lie all I really knew what that the lead singers brother is Chord Overstreet from the Fox hit Glee. But everyone in Hollywood knows someone in a band so I always figured they would never be big. 'Tonight Tonight' is awesome though, it's more pop then anything but a good pop song never hurt anybody.

Hot Challe Rae-Tonight Tonight

Foster The People, again never heard of them but love 'Pumped Up Kicks'. It's so fun and kind of has the indie sound to it that I just love.

'Price Tag', I heard and never liked it, until one of the contestants on the NBC show The Voice performed it, and I actually listened to the lyrics. It's a good song, now I listen to it at least once a day.

Older Hits, I'm Just Starting To Appreciate

'I Dreamed A Dream', originally from the musical Les Miserables, covered by quite a few others, but what really got my attention was when it was performed on Glee. Again it was the lyrics, never listened to them before, I always just rode it off as some Broadway tune, but the words are great...

"I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed"

...Love it!

Amy Winehouse, I think after her not so surprising death everyone kind of looked to her music again. I know her songs started popping up again on the top 100 and one of my favorites, that I love a million times more then  'Rehab' or 'Valerie' is 'Back To Black'. It's amazing there are no other words to describe it.

Amy Winehouse-Back To Black

'The Times They Are A-Changin', first heard this Bob Dylan classic on Watchmen, and loved the way it was used, now I listen to it all the time.

Smashing Pumpkins, always was a fan of 'Tonight Tonight' and '1979' but really because I liked the way they sounded. While listening to it in the car a while back my mom said how 'Tonight Tonight' was like one of the best songs ever, and now I'm kind of listening to it nonstop since it's sort of true.

I love music! It's true! I do!

Does Dating George Clooney Make You a Star?

In case you haven't heard Elisabetta Canalis who is known in the US mostly because she is the girl George Clooney just broke up with a few months ago, is on the new Dancing With The Stars Cast. As it is DWTS hasn't ever been known to include real honest too goodness stars, more like D-list actors, but the addition of Elisabetta came as a real surpise to a lot of people.

For her I am sure it's a nicely paying job, maybe a stepping stone to the Hollywood life and a career here. But to me it just seems tacky, DWTS is a place where the stars end up when they are no longer stars, almost as a desperate attempt to stay in the public eye before fading away for ever. To me someone who dated George Clooney should have a bit more respect for themselves and maybe break into the biz some other less tacky way. But this is just my opinion and as I am sure you can tell, I really don't care for that show or most of the "stars" that appear on it.

Protect Your Family With Life Insurance .

Even though I still don't have kids, I still have a lot of the same worries a lot of parents do. I worry about what would happen to my nieces and nephews in case something were to happen to me. I also worry about my two sisters. I am a bit part of their lives, I watch the kids all the time, I loan money when someone is in a jam and I am counted on in times of stress. So if something happened to me what would happen to them?

50% of American's are under insured or don't have any insurance at all. I don't want to be in that position so I have been thinking of getting life insurance. Allstate Life Insurance would be a great option for me to look into right away. One of the main reasons why I don't already have life insurance now is because it is usually expensive and I worry about having the monthly payment. However I just found out that Allstate has plans that start as low as $20 per month.

When I have my life insurance in place I am going to know that if I am gone I can leave every one of my nieces and nephews a small amount for schooling and maybe for a first car. I can also leave some aside for college or trade school.

I can leave my sisters a little bit of money each, not too much, just enough to put into a savings account for a rainy day. This way even with me not here they can count on that in case of an emergency.

I can take the most horrible of all the worries away too, the cost of a burial! Burying a loved one has become astronomically expensive in past years and that is one of the main things that worries me. If I die, who can afford to pay to bury me? Not my sisters with all their kids and all their expenses. So the first thing that life insurance would cover is my burial, that way at least that part is covered and my family won't have to have the extra stress.

I can definitely see all of the great benefits of having life insurance, the sooner the better! Knowing how affordable Allstate Life Insurance is now I know where to go to get started on protecting my loved ones when I die.

The 2011 MTV Video Music Award's

Adele, is a Goddess! I swear she hung the moon and the stars herself. Her voice is incredible, and live was even better.

Adele performing Someone Like You at 2011 MTV Video Music Award's

The VMA's were honestly a freaking joke this year, and the fact that this amazing lady walked away without an award is ridiculous. BUT it's not like the VMA's have ever been the kind to really award good music, all they care about is current "music" like hip-hop and rap. How that stuff passes for music, I will  never know. Bruno Mar's should have walked away with an award too but no, Justin Bieber. Was it just me, or did even Kim Kardashian seem surprised by that? I've always kind of hated Kanye West as a person, since he seems like a total douche, though I have liked a few of his songs, BUT that "performance" with Jay-Z was HORRIBLE! I couldn't even tell who they were. Just because they are Jay-Z and Kanye West, they think everyone will love anything that comes out of their mouths, but that is so NOT true. Lady Gaga, I love her. I really do, I'm not a fan when she get's all preachy like, but I do like her music. I was excited when I heard she was performing, I assumed it would be 'On The Edge Of Glory', and I love that song, so I was really disappointed with her performance. What was that song?! I did kind if like the get up she wore, and she stayed in it all night long, HA! But I can do without all these artists having alter-egos. It's so tiring. Katy Perry won video of the year! Yay! I love Firework, I have since the very beginning. I love it's message, I love it's lyrics, and O-M-G the video is gorgeous. I'm so thrilled it won. All in all, I was extremely let down, but what else should I expect from the MTV VMA's?

Such An Odd Couple: Amber Tamblyn and David Cross

They say love is blind and in this particular case I think they are right. Amber Tamblyn who is an actress whos work I really enjoy just got engaged to David Cross, known for his role in Arrested Development, which is one of my all time favorite shows. As much of a fan as I am of both of them, I do find their coupling a bit strange because of the age differences and I guess just because she is so much better looking that he is (David is 47 and Amber is 28). I know it's not about looks and that in love it should not be a factor, but in truth looks are what first attracts you to a person. So when I see a couple like this I always wonder that the attraction is and in this case I think they are probably really in love and he is most likely a great guy.

Congratulations to both of them, I hope that they make it through the engagement and can't wait to see them married!

Pointless Post: Movies & TV

If you've read past posts in this blog, you've probably gathered that I'm a really big movie fanatic. I love watching them, their fun, and you basically just get to escape to this other place when watching them. There are so many movies coming out in theaters that I'm just dying to see.

My Idiot Brother, starring Zooey Deschanel, Paul Rudd (who I've loved, ever since Clueless), and Emily Banks. Most people I know or even most of my family members would probably rather die then watch a movie like that, but I kind of love them. Zooey Deschanel, is someone who I've become a huge fan of too, I've been wanting to see 500 Days Of Summer, but still haven't because I have to be considerate of what my family and friends want to watch too, and they don't like those movies. Crazy Stupid  Love, I want to see that, first of all because I love Steve Carel but also because Emma Stone. She's really making quite an impression. She's doing so much, and she has the perfect comedic timing. Plus it's nice when there are pretty actresses like her, who are willing to do something so completely embarrassing for a laugh. Anne Hathaway, is another great example. I've loved her ever since The Princess Diaries. Plus there's also all those funny comedians who aren't so new to the game like Tina Fey and Amy Pholer. Baby Mama, was hysterical! Cloris Leachman, who plays a demented old granny in Raising Hope. And if your immune to the powers of Betty White, I salute you. Shes just too damn adorable.

Period piece movies, I kind of like. Pride and Prejudice is like a really big guilty pressure of mine. I don't even know why but I watch it whenever it's on. Horror films, are not exactly my favorites. I can watch them at home but never in the theater, there too loud. Sci-Fy depends on the type and I hate Super Hero movies. The only ones I've liked were The Dark Night and Watchmen

Television, is another thing entirely. I only watch a select few of channels, and a select few of shows on each channel  I'm big on entertainment news programs, my favorites being E! News and TMZ. I'm a fan of BRAVO although not as much as my mother. I watch all the big networks, but I'm really starting to think there just running out of ideas for shows. Their remaking everything, I mean first Beverly Hills 90210, Witches of Eastwick, Dallas, Charlies Angels, and now Bewitched. They really just need to come up with their own ideas and stop reusing old material. No ones all that creative anymore.

When I was younger, like thirteen, I went through this awful stage where I love soap operas. Days Of Our Lives and Passions were my favorite. Now whenever I see clips of them all I can think is what terrible actors they all are. Their either over acting, or have these horrible voices they use, or just have terrible writing. I have no idea what I saw in them.

HBO, I loved HBO! Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, and Big Love are some of the best shows I've ever seen. I still to this day watch Sex and the City, on E!. Big Love, was also kind of a phase, when I just became fascinated with polygamy, again I don't even know why. I think I was just a weird kid.

Plumbing Problems Done, I Think

Okay, so all the plumbing issues seem to be over and done with now. BUT I'm not getting optimistic about it yet, I'm giving it a few days. This plumber was certainly the nicest, and most informative of them all, but damn did he make a mess. AND it was loud, my little sister started crying, and to top it off I was babysitting a fussy baby. He made allot of holes to get this one air vent through the roof, and now everything is really ugly too. I'm scared to put any of my stuff back, because he said he'll be back tomorrow to patch up a few things. Please do NOT make a mess again!!!

Spoke Too Damn Soon, Once Again Plumbing Problems Arise

So I posted not that long ago, about some issues I was having with my freaking kitchen sink, and how they FINALLY, after SEVERAL attempts fixed it. Apparently they didn't. Today another new plumber, is coming over to put in some pipes, because according to him, the sink just needs air, which I guess it does not have now. Their going to put a pipe that will lead to another room in my house, that will go up to the sealing, and I guess, give it air. Uhh, I swear doing dishes has been a total nightmare, and I'm hoping all goes well this time. At least this new plumber doesn't display any of the butt crack, all the other plumbers sported. Yuck!

It's my favorite part about blogging and tonight I actually finished all the chores and errands (besides the laundry which is still sitting in a big pile in my room). And I have time to get some hopping done, I want to start doing giveaways soon so I really need to buckle down and work on this baby.

Tips and Tricks For Changing a Squirmy Baby's Diaper With Huggies ..

Changing  a squirmy baby's diaper is no easy task. They wiggle too much and can cause you to break the diapers tabs, or put the diaper on incorrectly. I've always been very fortunate that my oldest niece and nephew were rather calm and never caused too much damage during changing time. Unfortunately my brand new baby nephew is not as calm and collected during changing time. He will literally wail like a banshee, kick his legs in every direction, and started swinging his little fists in the air. Finally, after several torturous hours of babysitting, I have mastered the art of changing a squirmy baby's dirty diaper. Here are some of tips and tricks I learned...

Create a distraction. When changing my nephews diaper, I find it makes things easier if I have a toy for the baby to focus on. Sometimes if I'm lucky and have another sister in the house I just have them sit there and coo at him while I take care of getting him out of his soiled diaper.

Have a pacifier on hand. If the distraction method does not work then you can always try a pacifier. I know that when ever I hear a baby screaming at the top of their lungs it tends to stress me to the point where I cannot put any diaper on correctly. A pacifier will quite the baby down. If your one of those unfortunate souls that have a baby that hates their pacifier, the pacifier trick should still work, for a few seconds at least. Remember your trying to get these diapers on quickly, and it tends to take babies a few seconds to realize what they have is a pacifier and not an actual bottle.

Have a changing area already setup. If you yourself have a baby, then this will most likely be your changing table, but if your like me and the baby is normally just a visitor then set one up before the baby arrives. I know my nephew typically shows up with a soiled diaper since the car seems to be his favorite restroom. All you really need is a blanket, some wipes, a few diapers, and your trusty distraction toy or their pacifier.

The last tip I have is to always make sure the diapers I am using are the new Huggies Little Movers Slip On Diapers. Made specifically for changing all your squirmy babies. All you have to do is slip it right on and the diaper has stop guards around the legs and waist to avoid leakage. The diaper does also have tabs, for those super soiled diapers that some babies can make.

Our Newest Disney Princess!

Okay, so I know I'm seriously late in the game, but I finally saw Tangled...

It may have just been one of the cutest movies I've ever seen. I honestly thought Rapunzel, would in no way be able to compete with the classic Disney princesses like Belle, Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, and Jasmine, but she definitely fits in with all those girls. I was a little skeptical when I heard that Mandy Moore would be voicing the character, since we all know that Mandy Moore has done her share of flops, but her voice fit in so well. It honestly made the character more innocent, and she really did put allot of emotion into her voice. I honestly think my favorite part of the whole movie though was right after Rapunzel leaves the tower and she has all the conflicting emotions about how she was a terrible daughter and how she never wanted to go back. I cracked up, that was honesty just so perfect. The leading man wasn't some prefect Prince Charming either, he was arrogant, and a little off putting at first, with a good heart. All in all, I really loved pretty much everything about this film, and Rapunzel is very much one of my favorite Disney princesses now.

Plumbing Problems & Plumbers Crack. Eww!

So for the past couple of months there has been a drip in my shower that's basically caused my water bill to sky rocket. I told my landlord about it and he sent a guy that did not know under any circumstances hot to fix it, so my step dad  offered to do it when they came over to fix my kitchen sink (another problem, I'll be bring up shortly) as long as he could borrow their tools seeing as I don't own any. He fixed it in less then an hour. I mean really I had a whole mess of water bills that were sky high, and had no choice but to pay them, but if I had just had my step dad take a look in the first place I would have spared myself allot of money. It's not completely my fault I mean, the landlord should have sent someone who knew how to fix it in the first place not an old man, who's basically blind, and would need a manual.

Plumbing problem number two, my sink has been linking forever and is constantly getting clogged up. The clogging up is new, but the leak was supposedly fixed just two weeks ago, then it got clogged up, I bought a brand new plunger and tried to fix it and it worked, for a couple of minutes. Not even an hour later I'm trying again, and again, and again. It wasn't until again, my step dad tried that we saw that all this plunger use caused  a leak under the sink. So I called the landlord and asked him to send someone over as soon as possible the next day, and they don't show until the late afternoon. Supposedly they fixed the clog and were going to have to return the next day with a piece for the leak, but of course just an hour later the sink is clogged up and the leak has gotten a whole hell of allot worse. I didn't even bother with the call since I knew they would be coming over again today, and as soon as they walked in I told them  they tried something different and FINALLY it actually seems to  be working. After this got fixed is when my step dad volunteered to fix the shower, needless to say I had quite a bit of cleaning to do afterwards.

While the clogs, the leaks, and the near constant cleaning of water is certainly annoying, one of the things I hate most about plumbing issues is this...

Plumbers crack!!!! Ewwwwwww!!!!!!!!! And it's always on the most unattractive guys too. Why can't a plumber who looks like Mike Delfino, from Desperate Housewives exist?! Why do all my plumbers have to be old and ugly?! Definitely not feeling all that fab today. :(

Zacapa Premium Rum - Heavenly Rum Aged Well Above The Clouds.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Diageo for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Today I want to introduce you to Zacapa premium rum, one of the world's best tasting rums.  The story behind this premium dark rum and how it is aged 2,300 meters above sea level to create a unique complexity of flavor that is perfection and is as mesmerizing as looking at a bottle of Zacapa.

Zacapa

From 19th century railroad to 21st century rum

In eastern Guatemala, 229m above sea level, lies the town of Zacapa.

Founded in 1876 as a bustling railroad stop, the resident population was soon joined by travellers from around the world, leaving a legacy that can still be seen today in local surnames.

In 1976, the town reached its centenary. To celebrate this historic event, Guatemala’s premier rum-producing company decided to create something special.

Coolly aged to perfection

In the highlands of Quetzaltenango, 2300m above sea level, lies The House Above the Clouds. Here in the mountains, the cool temperature slows the ageing process, while the thinner air and lower atmospheric pressure helps intensify the infusion of flavours from the barrels. Only in this precise spot can Zacapa’s exceptionally deep aroma, full colour and rich palate emerge to reach perfection.

Blog Hops

 BLOG IT Forward Tuesday

Time To Clean House!

After avoiding it for months, it's time to get in a good house cleaning. That includes washing all of the couch cushions, washing the couch itself, cleaning any stains on the carpet, moping every hard surfaced floor, vacuuming, bathroom, kitchen, dusting, cleaning out of any old bedrooms, and a whole hell of a lot more. To top it all off, it's exactly 100 degrees outside and muggy. So the swamp cooler, is really just bringing it into the house, so I feel sticky and gross. BUT wait, there's more, I have a couple of badly behaved nieces and nephews running around screaming their heads off. And last but not least the television, which is the only thing I have to keep the kids occupied, keeps getting disrupted by flash flood warning signals for an area no where near mine. It's a not so great day.
